The Covid-19 lockdown is working in NZ
- Social distancing is working
- Being early at shutting All airplanes down so no one can enter
- Not leaving the house
On 23rd of march at about 2pm Jacinda Ardern pronounced that schools would be closing unless your parents were: doctors/nurses, veterinarians, bankers and people who work for supermarkets. I strongly agree that these methods will work to stop corona.
Social distancing is one of the best ways to stop covid-19. The main way people can get coronavirus is through it spreading vigorously by being near each other. Social distancing means to me that we can go on walks around the blocks maybe a few times a week. Only one person goes to get food from the supermarket. Anything else is a risk for yourself and others.
Nz was one of the few countries to shut down airplanes and airports as soon as they could. The airports would check people to see if they had covid-19 before coming back from their overseas trip. They also closed down cruise ships, every store except: supermarkets, gas stations and Dairies. I think this was a great idea for keeping us safe but the con of corona is that online shopping takes ages because everyone else is doing the same.
Staying inside is a great improvement to stop covid-19. Staying 2 metres away is helping but it is not as good as staying in your property where only your bubble is. There are A Lot of pros and cons to being inside. First pro is that in some way it improves your imagination by making movie cinemas, forts and doing roleplays. 2nd pro is that you have so much time to catch up on binge watching your favourite shows. 1st con is that even though you're supposed to savour your food it’s hard when you get up every 5 minutes to scavenge the fridge. 2nd con is that after a while you kind of finish everything so you end up walking around the house cluelessly (like myself).
Overall I think that the plan we have is working because we only stayed in isolation and quarantine for 8 weeks which sounds like a lot but there are still other countries still in isolation and quarantine.
